Katara Cultural Village opened a new Pakistani Corner this week. The space sits inside Building 45 alongside Qatar's World Cup legacy exhibition. Katara organized the event with Pakistan's embassy in Qatar. The corner celebrates Pakistan's deep role in football manufacturing worldwide. It will stay open throughout the entire World Cup tournament.
A tribute to Pakistani craftsmanship
Katara General Manager Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti led the opening ceremony. Pakistan's Ambassador Muhammad Aamer attended alongside several other guests. Al Sulaiti called the corner part of a wider cultural tradition. Katara has built similar national corners for countries around the world. He said this addition brings Pakistan into that growing cultural family. The exhibit displays three footballs made in Sialkot, Pakistan. Sialkot is globally known for producing official World Cup match balls.
Trionda ball takes center stage
The exhibition's biggest draw is the Trionda match ball itself. This is the official ball used at the World Cup 2026. It sits inside Gallery 45, near Qatar's 2022 legacy displays. Ambassador Aamer said Sialkot makes about 70 percent of the world's footballs. He credited generations of skilled workers for building this industry. The craft has grown from hand stitching into advanced manufacturing methods. Major sports organizations now trust Sialkot's production for major tournaments.
Strengthening ties through culture and sport
Aamer pointed to Qatar's large Pakistani community living in the country. He said events like this bring the diaspora together to celebrate. The corner also strengthens people to people ties between both nations. Aamer described the exhibit as more than a sports showcase. It gives visitors insight into global football supply chains too. The space promotes cultural exchange and friendship between visiting nations. It also reflects growing cooperation between Qatar and Pakistan overall. Visitors can explore both Qatar's World Cup history and Pakistan's football legacy in one location.
